This hairstyling course covers a multitude of fundamental hair, basic and intermediate hairstyling techniques like bridal, creative, and editorial hairstyling.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Session/ Hair Stylist Hygiene
This covers the importance and professional understanding of stylist hygiene, for example, keeping all your equipment clean and tidy, and maintaining personal hygiene.

Hair Product Selection
Learn how to select the right product before creating a style, with guidance on product uses.

Tools of the Trade: Building a Session Stylist Kit
You will find out what tools are needed for a hair and make-up artist’s kit. A session stylist will guide you through their personal kits to give you a good understanding of what is required.

Sanitation of Tools and Equipment
Learning how to maintain and sanitise tools and equipment.

Hair Analysis and Consultation
Understanding hair types, textures, density, and porosity.

Sectioning
Learn how to section the hair, keeping it clean and tidy before starting the desired style.

Blow Drying
Techniques for blow-drying hair into simple styles, adding volume, smoothness, and body.

Setting Hair
Learn how to set hair using both heated rollers and classic wet-setting techniques.

Styles Using the Tongs
Master creating body curls, flicks, and other tonging tricks used by session stylists to create beach waves and Hollywood waves.

Braiding
Learn how to braid into simple and funky catwalk and photographic styles.

Wedding
Techniques for creating stunning, popular, both sleek and messy bridal hairstyles, including securing hair with pins.

Fashion Editorial and Catwalk
Learn set etiquette for photographic and magazine shoots, as well as effective styles for catwalk shows, taught by a stylist with extensive backstage experience.
