Our second and last show of LFMW was with John Smedley. The creators of the World’s Finest Knitwear. Established in 1784, they are the oldest manufacturing factory in the world, crafting beautiful, high quality garments that are designed to last, made in Britain and distributed the world over.
Within the 1950’s and 60’s they became the brand of choice for many famous faces, including Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and the Beatles amongst many others and by 1980 they had established ourselves as the go-to knitwear brand for British designers such as Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sir Paul Smith.
We have collaborated with this established brand before on quite a few of their shows and showcases, and we can therefore say that we have evolved our teamwork into true friendship between them and AOFM. And our friend this year did not disappoint, The AW 17/18 collection was a showstopper with John Smedley showcasing their talent in bringing us inventive and innovative ways of manipulating knitwear designs, from the small details of the hems and cuffs to the voluminous shapes and folds in the clothing, they showed a commercial side to futuristic knitwear fashion. With different muted hues and tones to compliment the autumn winter collection there was definately a particular look that they had in mind, and particular make-up style that would fit it.
Our graduate’s task was to ensure they all had a fresh faced dewy make-up, making all the models skin appear soft and lustrous. This simple but very effective look added so much to the beautiful presentation of light screens and industrial see through alpine landscapes that captured the background of the models surroundings.
Its a beautiful showcase and alas our last one for LFMW AW17/18 but the team of graduates did a tremendous job and truly enjoyed their last show, what an amazing rollercoaster that is fashion week please stay tuned for more from our amazing AOFM graduates coming soon.
